Both marks stay while lanes catch up
Many checkout lanes still read a linear barcode with a laser. A 2D barcode needs a camera. Sunrise 2027 is the target for retailers to scan the 2D symbol at the point of sale. It is not a reason to strip the UPC off art that will ship before those lanes are ready. Through the transition, the pack carries both.
The new mark has to be the product
The 2D symbol has to carry the GTIN for that sellable unit, in a GS1 Digital Link rather than a spare logo or a "learn more" code aimed at the homepage. A shopper and a scanner will both look at that panel. Give the symbol clear space, and do not crowd it against a second QR that does a different job.
Small packs are the real project
A carton has room. A stick, a blister, a bar, or a vial may not. The decision is what the code on that pack must do itself, and what can live on the page behind it. Batch, expiry, and the longer product story do not all have to be printed if the link can carry them. What cannot be skipped is the GTIN, and a domain you will still control when that unit is on the shelf.
Lock it to the print calendar
Packaging is committed months before a shelf date. The SKUs to do first are the ones with a print cycle still open, not the ones that are convenient to talk about. We start from the identifiers and the calendar you already have, and design the link so the code you print now can open the right page later without a new plate for every offer.
Who this is for
This is for brands that sell physical products and are about to release art. We do not sell barcodes. If you are deciding whether this year's file is the one that should change, the Sunrise 2027 packaging timeline is the other half of the decision. What Resolve2D does is the identifier map, the link design, and the destinations.
